WORKSHOPS

SURFACE DESIGN SMORG - 6 hours
Are YOU just getting into fabric art? Or are you at a standstill and want to try out some NEW techniques? Then, this is the class for you! Techniques we will cover include printing with household tools, stamp carving, foiling, photo transfer, making paper into fabric, chiffon layering - to name just some of the techniques. We will create a little sample book for you to refer to in the future.

MAKING YOUR OWN FABRIC STAMPS - 3 hours

Have you been wanting to learn how to carve your own original stamp?  Then, this is the workshop for you!  We will carve our own ORIGINAL design stamps using several different materials, so that you will have options for your own use at home.  We will play with those stamps using textile paint, inks and even acrylic paints.

BINDINGS & EDGES FOR YOUR ART QUILTS - 3 hours

Tired of the same old bindings & edges on your art quilts?  This workshop will give you a sampler of different binding & edge treatments for you to add to your art quilts.  We will cover facing an art quilt, couching, exploring several different embroidery stitches, adding beading and many more.

ALL THE INS & OUTS OF FREE MOTION QUILTING - 6 hours

In this workshop, you will become one with your sewing machine and be Free Motion Quilting without stress. This class will cover all the basics of Free Motion Quilting - from basic meandering to making your own designs while you quilt.

MIXED MEDIA: THE BASICS & BEYOND- 2 days

We will take an older book, and PLAY with different techniques.  This is a process workshop in which we will create backgrounds, borders, collaged images, experiment with monoprint, image transfer, water soluable crayons, stencil, stamping, gel pens, different papers, various inks and gel medium.  Each student will leave the class with many journal pages filled with new techniques and inspiration.  These techniques will give you inspiration for your own cards, scrapbook pages, fabric paintings or your own artist journal.

UPCYCLING an Old Art Quilt - 6 hours

UpCycling is the practice of taking something that is disposable or downcycled and transforming it into something of greater use and value!   In this workshop, you will take an unloved art quilt, add to it, paint on it and cut it up to make a totally FABULOUS new Art Piece.  No two quilts will be the same! They will be so inspiring, you’ll be taking notes the whole time to use in future pieces!  And, once you have cut up one old, unloved quilt, you will be looking for more.  You will be shown how to even start unloved quilt, for future UpCycling!

WRAPPING UP MEMORIES - 6 hours

Create your OWN album for a keepsake for an event or you can make one for a SPECIAL person! You will machine quilt your fabric scraps, transfer photos onto fabric, use paper on fabric, add machine & hand embroidery, add beads, buttons, ribbons and silk flowers. You will learn how to emboss the CD tin as well.

FABRIC MEMORY BOOK - 6 hours

This workshop will show you some basics, tips and techniques for you to make your own fabric memory book for a special occasion or gift to a special someone. Your book could also be just about YOU, your dreams, your visions, etc.

LIBERATING YOUR SCRAPS - 6 hours

This workshop will give you good block ideas for those strips, blocks, or leftover scraps. You will end up with 6 different block patterns to use for a larger quilt. You will be provided with a couple quilt layout plans. Bring your "scraps" tote; we'll share with each other and see what we come up with!
